Learn About the Ford Taurus's Performance Features

Ford first produced the Taurus in the 1980s. The full-size sedan remains a popular model for the American automaker. Known for its reliability, the Ford Taurus also offers performance features.

Under the hood, the standard Taurus provides a nice kick. It features a 3.5-liter Ti-VCT engine that pushes 288 horsepower onto the road. If extra power excites you, check out the Taurus SHO, which comes equipped with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine that emits 350 horsepower.

Ford also kept the driver's exhilaration in mind when building the Taurus's transmission. The model's SE, SEL, and Limited trim sets come with a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that lets you press an override button and manually shift gears. In the SHO, you will find a similar transmission with race-inspired shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel.
